Android before and after the iPhone

As often happens in these cases, the lawsuit between Samsung and Apple, for which Google has been involved , come to light documents that go around the tables. The paper presented at trial reveals marked differences between Android before and after the iPhone, against Google.

When Google bought Android in 2005, his goal was to launch a phone with the BlackBerry Java style, with a physical keyboard, discarding touchscreen devices like the iPhone. An internal Google document that details the requirements for Android v1.0 further emphasizes the marked differences between Android before and after the iPhone.

The fact that Android underwent a drastic change after the revolutionary introduction of the iPhone, has been well documented by author Fred Vogelstein in his book Dogfight, which revealed that Google had to " start over " in Android after the iPhone was presented. These documents further illustrate the differences between the two platforms.

Version 0.91 of the document :
Written in 2006 , described Android as a product that " will at least support a keyboard with the following keys: Numeric , Star, Libra, Send , End, Home , Back , 2 soft keys, 5 - five navigation directions (up - down, left - right and select). " Moreover, Google noted that" touchscreens not admit . the product was designed with the presence of discrete physical buttons as a course ".

After the iPhone was introduced in 2007 , however , the document was a major upgrade to add a new section of the touch screen that detailed " a touch screen for navigation capabilities including multitouch finger based required. Stylus -based navigation is not supported ".

Here is the entire document that details the functional requirements of software for Android:
