Apple has hired Divya Nag, a young dashing into the medical device community with alleged intent by Apple entering the health field. iWatch? Healthbook?
Nag entered the world of medical technology at the beginning of this decade, as co-founder of the Stem Cell Theranostics , a company focused on trials of new drugs for the market. Nag also founded StarX based Stanford a " throttle " for startups focused on medical technology. Divya Nag has been recognized in the field of medicine by the prestigious Forbes magazine, racing participants under 30.
Nag recently participated in “TED-style” talking about her work in the medical field. Her website (LINK) also details many of her accomplishments and published research articles in the science and healthcare realms.
On the surface, in comparison to Apple’s other recent medical industry hires, Nag’s expertise does not seem immediately applicable to future Apple hardware or software. However, a key line from her LinkedIn profile indicates why Nag could be critical to helping Apple fulfill its ambitions of reinventing health software to hardware medical appliances:
"Through StartX Med, Divya has operationally and strategically helped over 35 medical technology companies create product roadmaps, gain FDA approval, launch pilots with big provider networks like Stanford Hospital and MD Anderson, fundraise (over $100 Million in aggregate), and secure partnerships with top 10 pharmaceutical companies like Merck, Genentech and Johnson & Johnson."With experience in managing product launches, get certificicados FDA, and contacts in the healthcare industry, the recruiting of nivya by Apple, could put about devices such as iWatch and Healthbook. Apple recently participated with the FDA to discuss the future " mobile medical applications." The members of Apple's executive team as senior vice president Jeff Williams and medical experts like Michael O'Reilly show the direction to take. It is possible that these entries do not show obvious signs this year, but it is a new world to discover and I will be waiting it.
