Whether Mavericks or Mountain Lion OS you have installed on your Mac, both just received an update that fixes several vulnerabilities.

According China, Apple would have accepted that the Chinese government inspect their products

Here is one such information for now we have to take with tweezers. According to Beijing News, a means of China, Apple would have given permission for the State Internet Information Office of the Chinese government to inspect iOS devices and Macs have been sold in the country.

The reason: the Chinese administration has been long suspected of Apple products and their safety, claiming that could be the means to spy on members of the government. For this reason it was rumored the prohición buying these devices if you were part of the government, and Tim Cook calmed the community with an open letter in which he said "has ever offered 'backdoors' your software and services to agencies and it never will. Apple introduces OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
Apple introduced yesterday at the WWDC 2014 which is the 10.10 version of OS X. As previously rumored Mavericks successor will be named Yosemite and bring with it a new design, new features and applications completely renovated.
The main novelty of OS X Yosemite is its new graphical section. All exterior appearance of the operating system has been redesigned, giving it a flatter, similar to what we are used to in the current iOS look. The Dock loses its three-dimensional perspective and most system applications have gained new icons, from the Finder, Launchpad or Trash. Finder windows have also received a redesign, winning as the main color white, becoming translucent top bar like the Finder and eliminating the effect of aqua maximize and minimize buttons.
Notification Center is also updated to look more like iOS, getting a tab of "Today" in which we see from our calendar to appointments or time will do. Spotlight is another feature that are restarted in OS X Yosemite; now the search dialog will appear in the middle of the screen to be able to search anything. Files, applications and contacts are the top searches but also can search in the Internet any term eliminating the middleman and showing itself in the Spotlight search results.
OS X Yosemite will be available free in the fall and during the summer all users have access to the beta without being a developer. Then simply apply through the Apple website.

The "welcome pack" of WWDC2014

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

This WWDC has something special: is the number 25, and it marks a quarter century of developer conferences full of innovations and that have moved to a lot of developers. Perhaps that is why in the welcome pack, this year Apple gives all the lucky attendees who won the lottery ticket, a voucher for $ 25 digital stores of the company.

In this card can read the phrase "25 years and coding". We also have the most common items, such as the official jacket of the conference and landyard accreditation.

In a few hours we will detail how to follow the keynote live, and of course promptly informed of all developments.

OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

After the "confirmation" of iOS 8 by Apple, promotional poster hanging in the hall of Moscone Center in San Francisco. And after iOS8, we begin to see the poster of Big Brother. Staff enclosure WWDC 2014 has started to hang the OS X 10.10, also confirming its presentation and giving us clues about its name.

If last year we saw the same poster with a photo of a big wave predicting the name Mavericks, now what we see is a big X with Yosemite National Park in the background. So accustom: OS X Yosemite.

Everything points to the WWDC 2014 keynote will focus the same as last year: software, software and software. Maybe there is some new hardware isolation, but certainly they will focus on the new versions of both Apple platforms. Getting what I call the weekend of impatience, the calm before the storm.

iPhone 6 ... 1704x960 pixels?

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
All indications are that the next iPhone 6 will see significant changes in the display. It is speculated by the arrival of two models of 4.7 and 5.5 inches.

According to 9to5mac, who refer to sources that are testing the new phone, Apple will use a resolution of 1704x960 pixels in their next phone, strange for conventional world but logic within the Apple ecosystem. Keep the same format including iPhone 5 and 5S, which would imply that the adaptation of applications to the new resolution.

This resolution would be shared with the two phone sizes, 4.7 and 5.5 inches, and would be above 300 dpi that Apple requires to consider a Retina Display screen. They would be 416 and 356 dpi respectively, even above 326 ppi that Apple has been using for the iPhone 4.

It seems that Apple will raise the screen size of the next iPhone 6, and logic tells us that with this increase will also increase the resolution. These 1704x960 pixels fall within the logic, but of course we have to consider having a lot of speculation. Surely in the next WWDC 2014 (2-6 June) it unveil a new feature of iOS 8, and perhaps also with him some new feature of the iPhone 6 is leaking, hopefully confirming many of the things that have been rumored in the recent months. Maybe some new feature of the iPhone 6 is also leaking in the coming days.

Facebook removed Poke and camera apps for iOS

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Last Friday we met the withdrawal by his two Facebook apps for iOS. These two applications have gone unnoticed by the App Store. Poke First of all, similar to instant messaging SnapChat has not earned thrill. The other was the Camera app with many effects to our iPhone.

Know? Not much? Well, I think that has been one of the reasons that have disappeared from the App Store. Both were created by the creative team of Facebook, but were not paid much attention, nor were conveniently updated.

Poke was an application that was never important, the number of users that managed to attract was very small and even Zuckerberg acknowledged how little used. Camera was born shortly after the purchase of Instagram by Facebook and we all know who was the queen of photographic applications.

The business model of Facebook

In recent years we have witnessed a series of moves by Facebook which suggest that the company is guided by a team of hysterical chimpanzees, shopping without much sense, phones with Android software layer directed exclusively to use of social network...

The explanation is simple... Facebook looking for a business model and even if we think we do, is not yet entirely clear. Obviously the potential is there and the network is undeniable, but it is not clear yet how to take real economic return.

More than one billion people are real potential and it shows the number of commercial brands that have a presence in the social network. A perfect channel to live and stay in touch with your customers canal.

But still have a long way to go, as happened to Google. We have recently seen shopping companies, which then sell for not getting desired results.

The Apple Store notice a decline in sales waiting WWDC 2014

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
Charlie Wolf, an analyst at Needham has sent investors a fact that reflects what many of you have noticed: a long time without news from Apple, which causes the Apple Store sales decline slightly. It's simple: people are aware that we will soon have renovations and therefore prefer to wait.

The expansion of the iPhone to dealers and other shops also diverts potential customers phenomenon that occurred when Apple wanted to get rid of all stocks iPod distributing it to other establishments. But we are far from the end of the life cycle of the iPhone: there are those who simply prefer we kept the saved money and wait a few more months.

I will not discuss Apple's release schedule, since I am not an expert on markets, and Apple has always been contrary to the wind direction.

Reviewing the latest rumors

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Remaining 29 days. The countdown has begun
As every week, rumors around the world do not stop Apple. This time the WWDC, leads some issues as the future of their operating systems and devices such as the presentation of a new iPhone. Therefore, most of speculation, leaks and other data that are centered around.

1. We start with what could be the iPhone 6. According filtered and displayed by our fellow XatakaMovil images, the prototype iPhone 6 would have a 4.7-inch screen and a redesign that does not attract me much personally ... but as it is have to wait a rumor.
A new terminal that should serve to show the industry that Apple has not changed. Although it will not be easy, the other manufacturers are improving and there are other factors such as price or market saturation. Of course, as we discussed at Xataka Movilthe users of the iPhone 4 and 4s could mark the success of the iPhone 6.

2. More rumors about the iPhone 6 come from Macrumors. There show a mockup of the iPhone 6 created from the rumors and known data, comparing to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in size.

3. The next rumor is about the future of Apple headphones. These could incorporate a biometric sensors to measure heart rate and blood pressure. More inclusion of iBeacon to avoid their loss. And watch out, require connection to port Lightning. Something as discussed in Reddit would be the reason for moving the headphone jack on the bottom of the terminal.

4. The camera would also be revamped with better image stabilization system and a sensor with larger pixel size that would provide higher quality and be more luminous.

5. The rumored iWatch is making an appearance and sources said China Times and G for Games, Apple would already have begun to produce their device in small quantities.

6. If future devices are always something like, what software is really all enjoyed. Because in our current or future iPhone, iPad or Mac software is what will make the difference over other options in the market.

I think OS X will be the core of the WWDC 2014

WWDC 2014 will focus on OS X, with an update that will as important as iOS 6 to  iOS 7. Publications like 9to5mac or Re / code bet on these ideas and discuss further not see any new hardware. In particular no Apple TV or software for it. Therefore, the operating systems are only the protagonists of an event that indeed is about software.

Is Apple starting to fill iOS with bloatware?

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
One of the first computers I remember used was a Performa 460, which saw the first with color screen, I was like 7 or 8 years. It was very small and did not remember why we switched to Windows, but what I know that they were not "dark years" as some have called the period of dominance by Microsoft.

During those years in Windows and as an adult, passed through my hands several laptops before returning to Mac, Toshiba, Asus, HP and Compaq, excluding the company that was also a HP and Dell.

The truth is I've had enough complaints of all laptops, and some quite large. Format Each year, computers which lasted 3-4 years, countless hang up, famous blue screen, Ctrl + Alt + Sup worn ... not to mention disastrous designs dissipated heat directing the charger cable, melting it literally
Besides this, there was something that always bothered me about them: the bloatware. It was impossible to dodge, I'd purchased a new laptop or restaurabas and you were there those "useless" programs.

Some were useful as antivirus or Office (yes, test) but then there were others who were rubbish, like Dell multimedia software and application bar at the top of the screen. Instead start using the computer immediately, you spent half an hour or more uninstalling the trash that came pre-installed by the manufacturer. That software "useless" without thinking about if brought or not value to the end user.

When I have a Mac, this situation changed. Computer and operating system were designed and created by a single company that shared the same interests and that did not differentiate their computers with empty programs. It was a change for the better I appreciated greatly.

The bloatware in the era of the smartphone and tablet

In this Post-PC era where tablets and smartphones dispute attention to PC, we are experiencing a similar situation regarding the bloatware. Android smartphones in my environment are usually Samsung. I was surprised by the amount of duplicate apps I've found: two mail clients, two apps store...

So much win manufacturers with their bloatware software?

Apps that insurance may uninstall either official or "unofficial" but that involves additional work for anyone who is not a means-advanced user. This situation was accentuated by the Samsung Galaxy S4, which users criticized.

Again and focusing on iOS, Apple delineated this situation on its platform thanks to its control of the hardware and software. Many users stored apps in a folder. It can berate Samsung, a new terminal with 16 GB of storage is saturated by all the duplicate software, but at least you can expand memory.

The evolution of the standard apps on iPhone
I have been in iOS since my first iPhone 3G and have never had the feeling of having to delete apps around first start. However, it may reflect the increase in native Apple app with a new version of its mobile operating system. If we look, we have gone from:

  • iOS 1: 17 native apps on the original iPhone.
  • iOS 7: 25 native apps on the iPhone 5s.
All this to you without obligation to install nearly as iBooks and Find My iPhone, now would be 27 apps. Tallying, we have to every iOS review brings us one to two native apps that can not be removed, with the obvious waste of space.

According to rumors iOS 8 would present "Healthbook" and even the dubious "Preview" and "TextEdit", then we would have 28 or 30 native apps if we have "compulsory". We can also add free iWork, reaching 33 apps.

Will Apple offer some kind of solution so that its terminals are no longer filled with apps or continue "adding value" like it or not the user?

Apple released the ninth Mavericks beta of 10.9.3 to developers

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
Apple launches the ninth beta, just 8 days after posting on its developer web  the previous version, the beta-eight.So quickly between the two versions could indicate that soon we will have available for the public.

The goal is the same, focusing attention on the issues that were failing previous betas to try to post the version of OS X 10.9.3 Mavericks with the fewest problems. This from Apple developers indicate the points where they have to influence when finding faults in it.

Aspects of the system to treat are the possible problems with audio and video drivers, the Mail and Safari applications included by default in the system and also a new feature that allows you to synchronize calendar and contacts with local devices via iTunes. Another feature introduced in the latest versions of the beta is the ability to bend pixels to fit 4K monitors from other manufacturers.

iOS 7.1.1 improves the autonomy of your iPhone

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

After each update of iOS and OS X is normal to find many comments from users who are convinced that the system is more fluid or autonomy has improved. Anyway, I always doubt about whatever is true, but it seems that with the latest update of iOS to version 7.1.1 has actually increased the autonomy of our iPhones over the levels enjoyed in iOS 6.

That says Adrian Kingsley-Hughes of ZDNet, who has been keeping a meticulous control of the average consumption of battery your iPhone 5 along with the latest versions of iOS. Starting with iOS 6, iPhone of Adrian kept a 74% charge after six hours of normal use. This figure decreased slightly with iOS 7, but after a few cycles of loading and unloading the system is recalibrated battery with similar results.

The problem was thus with iOS 7.1, a version that was a decline in the autonomy of the iPhone 5 Adrian making after six hours load down to 48%, forcing him to recharge the phone twice a day to keep up.

The good news? After upgrading to iOS 7.1.1 things have improved sharply returning to previous levels and even surpassing the mark originally obtained in iOS 6. Their iPhone 5 now maintains an average of 76% of autonomy after six hours of use, not bad, right?

Personally I can certify that definitely iOS 7.1 had become a black hole for the battery in my iPhone, something I have tried to mitigate most actively controlling the type of apps that remained open, disconnecting the Bluetooth whenever it was not necessary, and configure the system to not try to locate my position for every bullshit that the app should ask (Settings> Privacy> Location).

Just three days I updated to iOS 7.1.1 and still I dare not give a verdict on whether things have improved or not particularly, but it is also true that he was not attentive ago. And you? Have you improved the autonomy of your iPhone?
