MacBook Air 12 ", tactile and interactions with virtual controls sight: Rumorsfera

The first months of any year within the Apple world are abuzz with rumors. Straddling the preceding months to come, expectations, interests and perspectives sometimes materialize in various unconfirmed reports, which do not cease to be an important ingredient in the history of the Cupertino company. We started the year still timidly, but interesting things begin to emerge:

  • One of the strongest rumors of the week was the possible leak of the first images of the new MacBook Air 12 ". According ifanr.com, the new Mac would not count on the illuminated apple and would look similar to the MacBook Pro frame with Retina display (not to say that this new Air count on it). a lot comes to mind the mythical PowerBook 12 "and for that alone, we are looking forward to seeing this new version (if in the end it materializes).

Framed is one of the best games of 2014 and you can download for free for a limited time

Download | Frame for iOS 7.0 or later (free for a limited time, universal) on the App Store

This is one of those stories to hopefully arrive early because few times a game with so many awards and rave reviews as Frame decides to reduce its price to zero for a limited time. Luckily this is one of those times and hope you can enjoy it without having to pay the 4.99 euros it costs to.

Even with that price adventure Loveshack really worth, but beyond the pleasant experience that awaits us with this change of scenes in which we decide how come our hero to the finish, the replayability of the game is quite limited and, together to its short duration, making it a difficult title to sell to the public.

I imagine the trailer and I have made it clear where the shots. The idea here is that, based on visual cues and classic mechanic trial and error, we place the bullets in the correct order to avoid the dangers that are happening.

He has given numerous festivals around the globe videogames and self Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid saga, called it the best game of 2014. I do not know if I would say both, but either as it is a highly recommended download. Especially now that will not cost you a penny.

Welcome to the twenty-first century: The App Store already generates more revenue than Hollywood

Asymco has announced a series of data and graphs that show us, once again, how big business has become the App Store. It has happened over this past year: the iOS App Store has surpassed Hollywood film industry revenue. What's more, there are developers that already charge more than some movie actors.

Directors like Ridley Scott may have you much envy these figures: 10,000 million dollars paid to developers during 2014, which in turn have accumulated 25,000 million in revenue. In other words, iOS developers have admitted 40% of the total money last year alone. Sign that we are growing well.

Apple goes up to fifth place in the Fortune 500 list

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

The Fortune 500 has always been a benchmark valuation for multinationals, and Apple takes much time in it. In 2009 came with the position 71th, in 2012 went up from 35th to 17th, in 2013 jumped to 6th position and now goes to 5th place in the list. But do not confuse this with another recent Fortune 500 list that the medium has made based on feedback from readers.

Fortune highlighted the growing sales of Apple and the pressure of his competition, which has not gone unnoticed despite the health of the company. Nor have put aside and the amount of liquid having the company, $170,900 million; and the acquisition of Beats Audio as the most talked by Cupertino $3,000 million.

Exxon, the company that usually occupies the top spot, has yielded to the retailer Walmart which is now leading the ranking. We will see if Apple releases allow follow at the top of the Fortune 500.

New MacBook Air and the performance of their SSD drives

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Last week Apple went on sale a renewal of the MacBook Air. A team that is still really awesome but we expected that the next generation would include Retina display. Only the processor has changed. We now have an Intel Core i5 1.4 Ghz in the basic model and a Core i7 to 1.7 Ghz in the most powerful models. Well, the CPU and the prices have also dropped.

Those were the only changes but those who have been able to test the equipment have shown that the storage units are a bit slower. There is a very marked decline but some people are surprised that happen.

Macworld tested the basic models of 11 and 13 inches and compared with those presented last year. So, after performing various tests results are as follows:

The tests provide happend more satisfactory models in the current previous year. Motives? As we know, Apple uses components from different manufacturers. So manufacturers like Toshiba and Samsung are among those making memory chips for the company. And that's where the difference is.

The 2014 MacBook Air is an Apple SSD TS0128F unit for 11-inch model, while the 13-inch model we see an Apple SSD SD0256F. The first is Toshiba and the second is Samsung. While models have Apple SSD SM0256F 2013 in 11-inch Apple SSD SM0128F in 13 inches.

Every generation SSDs
With the change of traditional disks current 2.5 " SSD mounting by Apple company has been using different storage units for each generation. So an SSD drive on a MacBook Air 2012 can not be used for one of 2013. There are not third-party options, except for the OWC, and every generation has its particular model.

Therefore, we have to accept these possible differences in speed. Which in some cases are very good compared to previous models and in others, like the present case, are slightly worse. Of course, in the current MacBook Air are not very marked differences and taking into account the uses made of these teams are not penalized excessively.

Apple regains market share in Japan, Australia and Spain thanks to sales of the iPhone 5S

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Market share: that fact that all manufacturers look. No matter how many devices you sell if the amount you sell to your competitor. In his keynote Apple always provides data to and share in the first quarter of 2014 has one more fact to teach as it has increased its market share in mobile devices.

This increase in sales was due to areas such as Japan, Australia and Europe where market share went up to 57.6%, 33.1% and 19.2% respectively, and these data rose by 8.6% in Japan, 2% in Australia and 0.1% in Europe, Spain is the European country with the largest increase (4.5%). The culprit for this increase has been mainly the iPhone 5S, which has had a great return as far as sales are concerned.

But not all would be good news for Apple in the first quarter of 2014 and in the United States during the months of January and March share dropped to 35.9% (7.9% less than the same time last year past), showing that Americans buy more at the end of the year than at the beginning.

Is this good news for Apple? Yes and no. On the one hand the increase in market share is always positive, but if we see the overall study data Kantar Wordpanel we realize that Android is still the most used operating system in all countries except Japan, a fact that Apple should attack later or later if you do not want to stay in line.

The source code for iOS 7.1 reveals that future iPad will TouchID sensor

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
When someone wants to know before anyone else what Apple is about to launch, look at two things: rumors and iOS source code. The latter has already given hints about new models of iPad last month, and now they have found signs that future generations inherit the tablet sensor TouchID iPhone 5s.

A number added to that code (specifically found in iOS 7.1) within the property BiometricKit suggests that this sensor will be in a new range of iOS devices, namely the iPad Air and iPad mini. There will be no discrimination depending on the model, and that can also mean that plans to exploit more fully the sensor are closer.

We WWDC event in sight, but will be far more focused software not the hardware. But this year we need to see new iPad, and the combination of the sensor and the latest news TouchID iOS 8 can lead to very interesting things.

The five reasons that are warming the price of Apple

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

1. Few bright results
The revenue of the company rose by 4.6 percent to $ 45,600 million, a record for a non-holiday quarter. This figure is above the 43.500 billion analysts had expected. Also, these accounts imply a profit of $ 11.62 per share, better than expected they were $ 10.18. Specifically, quarterly earnings increased 7%.

2. The increase in iPhone sales
Apple reported sales of 43.7 million iPhones in the first quarter, exceeding the 38 million Wall Street had predicted. This contributed to the doubts hanging over Apple's flagship device, which has shown that continues to attract the faithful.

3. The split
Apple has announced that each share of the company will be divided by 7. This decision facilitates entry into the Dow Jones Industrial, and is one of the factors that has driven the price of the company, since the presence in index attracts so much money from passive management. In addition, this will allow fans of the company can be done with some that could not previously. There is also a psychological factor: It is not the same as having an action 7.

4. The dividend
Apple also announced an increase in the quarterly dividend by 8% to $ 3.29. The dividend has been for years one of the major demands of the investors in the technology of the apple.

5. Buyback program
The other factor that is driving the action is the announcement that senior management has approved a new share repurchase program worth $ 30,000 million by 2015, which will certainly boost its market value.

However...

Despite these bullish factors, the results presented this week have failed to dispel the main question that continues to weigh on the company: When will Apple launch a new product?

The momentum gained by the first iPod; then by the iPhone in 2007 and finally with the iPad in 2010 is undeniable, but the competition is fierce and it now spends Google billions of dollars in artificial robotics; Samsung is gaining it while growing market in the area of smartphones. The billionaire Carl Icahn, one of the shareholders of Apple that has fought for the share repurchase program summed it up well in his Twitter account: "I completely agree with the share repurchase program and extremely pleased with the results. I also will be happy when they launch new products "

iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 increase its presence in web browsing stats

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
It is just over a month for the celebration of the WWDC 2014. As you all know in the event Apple developers usually present in their keynote the new software and sometimes hardware, as in the case of the first iPhone.

For this edition is expected that the first demo of the new versions of operating systems Cupertino look both iOS 8 and OS X 10.10. Although no official confirmation think we will have some type of presentation with confidence. The reason? Increased browsing devices with these operating systems. As you know each system identifies itself to the browser with version and from Appleinsider have detected a large increase in devices with these new versions.

Although the two systems already surfaced in September 2013, the increase in visits during weekdays seems that Apple is trying to fund their systems these days, which means that almost certainly presented the keynote of 2 June.

Second chance: Apple is offering unclaimed tickets for WWDC 2014

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
Apple has made a change in the delivery of the tickets for WWDC this year, to avoid a collapse in servers and knowing that there is much more demand than supply, the company established a lottery system with which they chose to had the right to buy a place. But in a lottery are always the winners who do not claim their prize, and now Apple is offering these tickets to certain developers.

Those developers requested a seat and lost, so Apple is contacting them via email and phone call to ask if they are interested in attending the WWDC 2014. So if this is your case, you had better take a look at your inbox input and phone.

The developer event this year has to be interesting, because Apple has announced that it will change our daily lives. Of course, we'll be ready to cover the event and tell you all the news on time during the afternoon of June 2.

to buy Mac mini now or wait for the new Keynote?

To date, almost all models of Apple computers have been relaunched or overhauled in one way or another. However, the Mac mini is the only one left, and now we're wondering if it really soon will undergo remodeling or a simple upgrade.

This computer has not been updated since October 2012, so we believe that a possible set-up is near. In January, we tubimos information from a Belgian shop ensures that the end of February would have units of the new Mac mini. February and March have passed and still no news.

Typically, these small leaks usually indicate that in reality this new model is expected and already preparing to put it on sale. There are not often false these indications, so we will be attentive to the movements of other retailers.

Could it be submitted new generation of Mac mini in June? I personally think it will be in September.

Office for iPad is now cheaper with the Personal plan: $69 per year

One of the drawbacks that most people have pointed out the new Office for iPad is its price: $99 for a normal annual subscription (although there are cheaper plans for students). But Microsoft has been taking off result of its presence in the App Store, so they have squeezed its offer a bit more and now offer a subscription called Personal Office 365 for $69 per year.
This plan allows us to install Office on an iPad and a Mac, which is what the vast majority of home users need. To install on more machines have to pass the usual plan of $99 per year, but remember that Office is completely free if you only want to view documents without editing.
Not forget that Office is free on the iPhone, so Microsoft lowers its presence in all our Apple devices these $69 per year. What I wonder now is if they paid a regular subscription to this plan can jump lowered or have to wait a year...
